The protagonist, Colton White, is a hunter who turns into a gunslinger when his murdered father, Ned, instructs him to go to Dodge City. GUN features a free-roaming environment, including side-missions and other such touches. It was released in North America on November 8, 2005 and in mid-to late November in Europe. Since October 13, 2006, the game has also been available to buy on Valve’s content delivery platform, Steam.

Gracze wcielajÄ siÄ w ÅoÅnierzy Sekcji 8, najbardziej elitarnej i najnowoczeÅniej wyposaÅonej jednostki piechoty, broniÄcej ZiemiÄ i podlegÅe jej planety przed najwiÄkszymi zagroÅeniami z kosmosu.
Jako wojownicy i straÅnicy ludzkoÅci, musimy daÄ z siebie wszystko. Sytuacja nie naleÅy bowiem do szczegÃlnie korzystnychprzygraniczne ludzkie kolonie zostaÅy niemal caÅkowicie zdewastowane przez krwawe powstania zbrojne, ktÃrych podstawy i przyczyny nie sÄ do koÅca jasne. WartoÅ bojowÄ ÅoÅnierzy Sekcji 8 dodatkowo podnoszÄ pancerze o nieprzeciÄtnych wÅaÅciwoÅciachpotrafiÄ nie tylko skutecznie chroniÄ przed pociskami i uderzeniami, ale i podnoszÄ znaczÄco podnoszÄ bojowÄ mobilnoÅ i wszechstronnoÅ swych wÅaÅcicieli.
ProgramiÅci postarali siÄ, by potyczki w Section 8 zostaÅy przygotowane z wielkim rozmachem, zaÅ w najwiÄkszych bitwach nierzadko przychodzi nam ÅcieraÄ siÄ z caÅymi watahami futurystycznie wyposaÅonych wrogÃw. Epickie, efektowne i dynamiczne bitwy udaÅo siÄ zrealizowaÄ dziÄki zastosowaniu nowoczesnego silnika gry. SzatÄ graficznÄ przygotowano bowiem w oparciu o technologiÄ Unreal Engine 3.
Section 8 to gÅÃwnie rozgrywa sieciowa opowiadajÄca o starciu dwÃch frakcji. TwÃrcy postawili na wiele ciekawych i oryginalnych rozwiÄzaÅ, bardzo dynamizujÄcych zabawÄ. Przede wszystkim, zamiast standardowych punktÃw respawnu po kaÅdorazowej Åmierci jesteÅmy zrzucani ze statku dowodzenia, znajdujÄcego siÄ na orbicie planety. SpadajÄc moÅemy wiÄc wylÄdowaÄ w praktycznie dowolnym miejscu danej mapy. Ponadto, na nasze wÅasne Åyczenie moÅemy rÃwnieÅ poprosiÄ o wsparcie w postaci rozmaitych pojazdÃw i struktur (np. wieÅyczek), ktÃre za odpowiedniÄ opÅatÄ zostanÄ dostarczone we wskazane miejsce.
Pojedynki sieciowe dodatkowo dynamizuje system specjalnych misji. MoÅemy je uruchamiaÄ w wielu momentach danej bitwy. Otrzymujemy wtedy pewien zestaw celÃw, np. ochronÄ konwoju, atak na bazÄ wroga lub prÃbÄ eliminacji przywÃdcy przeciwnika, ktÃrych speÅnienie oferuje nagrodÄ. Zdecydowanie siÄ na dane zadanie daje jednak pewne plusy przeciwnej frakcji, wiÄc nie zawsze jest korzystne. Warto zwrÃciÄ uwagÄ takÅe na samych ÅoÅnierzy, ktÃrzy zostali wyposaÅeni w potÄÅne zbroje, jet-packi oraz moÅliwoÅ modyfikowania wÅasnych zdolnoÅci (instalujÄc np. wszczepy). WaÅny jest teÅ system trafieÅ wskazujÄcy uszkodzone elementy pancerza.
